At Birchwood School we put the pupil at the centre of our provision whilst ensuring that the curriculum is both knowledge rich and skills based. It has been designed to create awe and wonder, through a mix of learning experiences, creative approaches and essential life skills. Communication and engagement skills are essential, and form the basis for all learning and are embedded throughout the curriculum.
We will deliver the curriculum that recognise and build on the strengths of children and young people and acknowledges that there they may be from different protected characteristic such as cultures, religion and belief, gender and sex, age, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnerships, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity and race (Protected characteristics as set out in the Equality Act 2010) in ways that meet their needs and help them to achieve their full potential.
